Wetland Restoration

Mattapoisett, MA

The Mattapoisett Bogs Wetland Restoration project is a transformative initiative aimed at restoring over 43 acres of retired cranberry bogs into natural freshwater wetlands and grassland habitats.

Spearheaded by the Buzzards Bay Coalition, the project is situated within the Mattapoisett River Reserve and is part of a larger effort to revitalize the region's ecosystems.

This restoration effort is a collaboration between multiple agencies, including the Massachusetts Division of Ecological Restoration (MA DER), USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA-NRCS), and Luciano’s Excavation, Inc., who is handling the construction work.
